This beer is fruity, tart, and refreshing with just enough sweetness from the addition of lactose to balance out the pucker.

The original Weizenbock beer was the initial inspiration for Strangeways owner Neil Burton to pursue what has become a lifelong passion of pursuing interesting and provocative brews. Strangeways’ twist on this Germanic wheat bock beer benefits from local Virginia malts from Murphy & Rude Malting Co., along with German Saphir, Perle, and Saaz hops. Don’t let the Escape Goat Weizenbock get away from you!

Black rice, known as the “Emperor’s” or “Forbidden” rice, has a rich cultural history dating to ancient times, although its exact date of origin is shrouded in secrecy. It was originally reserved exclusively for the Emperor in Ancient China and used as a tribute food.
But more recently it has become prized for its high levels of antioxidants — hence our Asian-inspired lager packs more then 230 pounds of black rice. It also showcases ginger and Sorachi Ace hops. To take it one step further, it was specially finished with a Sake yeast.
The result is an easy-drinking lager with a beautiful pink hue created by the use of this distinctively royal ingredient. To this we say, Gān Bēi!

This being the first beer ever brewed on our new 10-barrel Metalcraft brewhouse in Fredericksburg, we went with simplicity to help us baseline the system. As a pleasant enhancement, this Belgian Farmhouse Saison has a prominent hop aroma utilizing Mosaic, Nugget, and Calypso hops. Light, approachable, and easy drinking, this beer was brewed as a homecoming, to welcome back our owner and founder Neil Burton to his hometown of Fredericksburg, Fred Vegas, and FXBG.

The Totally Tubular Kirsche Radler is the perfect marriage of a light lager and flavorful cherry soda. The Radler style was invented in the Roaring 20’s to be light enough to enjoy all day and still be upright to cycle home at the end of the day. This decadent Porter was originally born from a collaboration with the culinary masters at Mamma ‘Zu, Edo’s Squid, Dinamo & 8 1/2, seeking to capture the essence of their iconic Tiramisu. Brewed with a blend of cocoa nibs, Madagascar vanilla beans, and locally roasted coffee, this beer is a true liquid indulgence.
Aged on oak with a subtle kiss of rum, Tirami’zu offers an aroma of freshly cut oak intertwined with rich coffee and dark chocolate. The first sip delivers an intense coffee embrace, followed by waves of oak that wash across the palate. Its creamy and luxurious mouthfeel is pure indulgence, with lingering notes of chocolate and delicate rum that invite contemplation with each sip.
Despite its respectable 7.5% ABV, Tirami’zu remains dangerously drinkable. No fork required – though you might want to keep this one all to yourself.
