Gourd of Thunder is a dark and gnarly Imperial Pumpkin Porter brewed with freshly picked local pumpkins that were ripened on the vine while continuously listening to heavy metal. The Legalize It Series was cultivated to relax your body and open your mind.  Scarce hop varietals are specially sourced from choice growers around the globe.  Our fifth strain, Come Together Hoppy Wheat Ale, highlights a tetrad of aromatic hop varietals, conscientiously administered to heighten your senses.  Come…sit…and inhale as bright, citrus flavors of grapefruit and lemon are imparted by hop varietals of Citra, Cascade, Sorachi Ace, and Glacier, which commingle with a wheat malt foundation and a very special proprietary weizen yeast.  Wheat unite, hops unite, weizen yeast unite, mankind still fight, so we better come together, and learn to love one another.

We’ve added some funk to the rich, fruity and tropical taste of Soledad with touches of hoppy citrus and spice, complemented with mysterious shadows of coconut and chocolate and, of course, rum!

Niagara white wine grapes, skin intact, are freshly pressed to form a special grape must, a pivotal ingredient in our newest sour beer recipe. Pilsner malt, honey malt, and Golden Naked Oats prove steady in the background, while a mixed fermentation, including the use of champagne yeast, saison yeast, and lactobacillus, aids in developing subtle complexities and a nuanced character in each and every sip. Don’t be led astray as this refreshingly tart and quaffable hybrid beer straddles the line between ale and wine. Must be nice to have such a pedigree noting ties to France, Belgium, and upstate New York.

Phantasmic East Coast IPA is anything but a typical American IPA. The malt character, including Pilsner malts, wheat malt and honey malt, rises to meet with the estery notes of Belgian abbey yeast to balance and support the hops. A blend of Motueka, Wakatu, Pacifica, Topaz and Pacific Gem hops from Australia and New Zealand, emerges from the malt foundation and blossoms into a sublime burst of flavors like citrus fruits, succulent melons and flowery herbs. More of the same in the nose, but the aroma wafts together into a bouquet of tropical flowers. Though aggressively hopped, this IPA is not overly bitter and promotes a dangerously session-like aspect that belies it’s 7% ABV.

From a legend whose origins are traced to Native American Algonquian peoples come tales of an enormous creature known as the Wendigo. Possessing characteristics part human and part monster, these beasts were said to emerge from people indulging in the ancient taboo of cannibalism. These malevolent, supernatural beings possessed great spiritual power, and were strongly associated with winter, coldness, famine, and starvation. Embodiments of gluttony, greed, and sheer excess, these Hinterlanders were never satisfied after consuming a person, and were constantly on the prowl for fresh victims in attempts to quench their lustful, never-ending desires. Cranberry Apple Sour

This Belgian Tripel was aged a full year in wild oak barrels with 3 Fonteinen yeast to summon a delectable, fruity sweetness followed by a dry, funky finish. Go Beyond the Ouija to say hello to this old friend, for the table is rumbling, the glass is moving, no I was not pushing that time…it spells T.R.I.P.E.L.

When Hardcore Punk Metal band Iron Reagan and Strangeways Brewing got to collaborating, two core ideas were immediately at war: wanting to brew a favorite style, the Belgian Tripel, while at the same time desiring to make a dark-as-night ale to pay homage to metal music. Peace was partially restored when we realized we could brew a Belgian Black Tripel. Jelly beans were added to enhance the insanity while at the same time keeping with the essence of the band’s name. Finally, months of aging in oak barrels bring it all back to earth. Now…don’t be a Nancy, and Just Say Go!

Blueberry Apple Sour

The fuse is lit, and tons of locally roasted apples are guided by precision and dropped like tiny bombs into the mash. Air raid sirens wail as phase two commences in the brew kettle, with the fusion of a hundred pounds of Apple Jacks® cereal that instantaneously turns to dust. As Defcon 1 approaches, fragments of even more apples are deployed in the fermenter, heightening the threat of flavor shrapnel. An atomic explosion of tart apple will mushroom in your mouth and devastate your senses, as brown sugar and cinnamon help shelter your tastebuds from the fallout.
